Cinema workers were left "wanting to quit" as hordes of all did the same thing at screenings of the Minecraft movie.
A Movie, which was released on Friday (April 5), has gone on to have the highest grossing weekend of any movie based on a video game. Its record-breaking numbers mean the film has made £233million globally. But some who are heading to see the film are causing chaos for the cinema employees.
Adults attending the screenings with their children were left bewildered by the scenes at the cinema. Videos posted to TikTok have seen people launching buckets full of popcorn around, while others have taken to yelling out the lines made popular in viral social media posts.

One person took to X and shared their screening experience, and said it was similar to a cult film from the 1970s. They wrote: "I saw Minecraft in the theatre with my kids last night and am still processing what I saw.
"The only cinematic experience I can compare the audience participation to is Rocky Horror, except it’s with teenagers and their phones and the movie is not even a weekend old.
"I had no idea what was happening at first – much to my sons’ laughter. Then I started to twig and I now know I have no idea what constitutes a hit at the box office. High school kids and adolescents alike screaming random Jack Black lines because of shorts and TikToks. Never seen anything like that before."
Another agreed with the comparison, adding: "My 17-year-old son was telling me about the audience's reaction, too, said it was the most fun he's had at a movie. I told him it sounds like how Rocky Horror was for us in the '80s."
While the film has proved incredibly popular with audiences, theatre employees are bearing the brunt of the wild screenings. One has since called the opening weekend a "living nightmare" while another says the viral clips are making their jobs "harder".
One shared: "I’m a theatre employee: by throwing water, popcorn and all that onto people (which many have been doing) y'all are making our jobs harder."
Another fumed: "Theatre employee here. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE just don’t be obnoxious I worked both opening days and it has been a living nightmare. Nothing wrong with cheering during big moments but don’t be swearing."
A post to TikTok, where the cheering crowd were seen launching popcorn and recording the movie, led to police being called.
A third movie theatre employee wrote: "If you throw popcorn, you deserve to not only get kicked out. But to clean that s*** up. Working through the Minecraft movie has been HELL because of the people coming in.
"I love Minecraft and will be seeing it. But a majority of the crowd has been really immature young adult/teenagers. And it’s ACTUALLY embarrassing the way they are acting."
Another added: "Never wanted to quit my job at a movie theatre more than this weekend."
A Minecraft Movie currently sits at 47% on the critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but has fared far better with audiences, which has seen a rating of 87%.
